What Docent keeps, where it goes, and how to get it deleted.
What we keep about you
Your email address and the date you signed up.
Your plan, your subscription status, and how many walkthroughs you've made.
If you pay: a customer ID from Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
We don't ask for your name and there is no password. You sign in with a link we email you, and that link works for 15 minutes.
What we keep about your walkthroughs
The web address you gave Docent, and when you made the walkthrough.
The screenshots Docent took of those pages, the instructions you gave it, and the finished video.
We keep these until you ask us to delete them. Nothing is deleted automatically.
Share links are public
If you create a share link for a video, anyone who has the link can watch it without signing in. Share links don't expire. Treat a share link like the video itself.
Docent records what's on the pages you give it
Docent opens your web address in a browser on our servers, reads the page and takes screenshots. Whatever is on those pages ends up in the video. Only point Docent at pages you own or have permission to record.
Other companies your data passes through
Anthropic (the Claude models) plans the steps and writes the narration. It receives the text Docent reads from your pages and the instructions you give it. We keep OpenRouter set up as a backup provider; if we ever switch to it, it receives the same text.
ElevenLabs makes the voice. It receives the narration text.
Stripe takes payment and runs subscriptions.
Resend sends the sign-in email.
Railway hosts Docent and stores the account records, screenshots and videos.
Google Analytics runs on heydocent.com, on this page and inside the app, to count visits. It never receives your videos or the screenshots Docent takes.
We don't sell your data, and we won't use your videos in our own marketing unless you say yes.
Cookies
Ours: one cookie, set when you click your sign-in link. It keeps you signed in for 90 days and holds your account number in a signed form, nothing else.
Google's: Google Analytics sets its own cookies on heydocent.com to count visits.
Deleting your data
Ask us and we'll delete it. Email john@instabid.pro from the address you signed in with and we'll delete your account, your videos and your screenshots. Once a video is deleted, its share link stops working. We can't reach copies someone already downloaded.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
